Dear Exporter,                                                                                                                                                     January 2021

Canadian Export Development Inc., in cooperation with the Canadian Embassy in Chile and Export Development Canada, invites you to participate in the Canadian Pavilion at ExpoCorma, November 03-05, 2021, Concepcion, Chile.

ExpoCorma organized by Corma (www.corma.cl), is Chile's largest forest industry trade association, enjoying the full support of the Chilean forest industry. This event is viewed as the industry’s prime opportunity to acquaint themselves with their clients' products and latest technologies available so as to meet their growing needs.  ExpoCorma is Chile’s largest and most innovative forest and pulp and paper industry event and ExpoCorma 2021 is particularly special as the last show was organized 4 years ago.

Despite the pandemic, the Chilean forestry industry remains the second most important sector of the Chilean economy after mining. It has shown signs of recuperation after a slowdown of global demand due to the global pandemic and is expected to grow its worldwide forest products exports by 5% during 2021 (after an estimated 15% decrease during 2020 from a US$ 5.5 billion 2019 figure). The short and medium term outlook for the industry is optimistic as the major Chilean forestry companies (Arauco and CMPC) continue to materialize their projected investments into the rest of South America, particularly Brazil and Uruguay, and including Chile of course. Opportunities for Canadian suppliers exist in all facets of the forest industry including: forest operations - harvesting machinery (skidders, harvesters and attachments) and services (forest fire protection services, remote sensing, GIS mapping, engineering, environmental and forest inventory management); wood processing - sawmill and value-added equipment (conveyors, debarkers, chippers, grinders, lumber edgers); and pulp & paper processing equipment (process flow monitoring systems, energy optimization assessment, water treatment and cleantech systems, innovative bioproducts, waste management and digital transformation expertise).

In the context of ExpoCorma, the Canadian Embassy (Global Affairs Canada) in Santiago in conjunction with Export Development Corporation (EDC) is inviting Canadian manufacturers of forest harvesting and wood processing equipment, as well as pulp and paper related equipment, services and technology providers, to participate in their Business Development Program during the week of ExpoCorma 2021. These activities will be defined based on the level of interest expressed by Canadian firms and budget availability. Also, on how the global pandemic behaves as the vaccination process takes place both in Canada as well as in Chile.

We look forward to working with you in making your participation in the Canadian Pavilion a successful undertaking.

Sincerely,

Robert Grison, Director of Operations
